CC to do - Mining a hall

Image
How can I make a turtle mine and move? That's the question I was asking myself when I started this project. That wasn't even the hardest part but it is very important. In this post I show you how I got to the point where I can make the turtle mine 2 wide 4 high 13 long mining hall for me. A goal kind of difficult for someone with no experience but easy enough that I could still succeed. The mining turtle busy doing half of the hall (the file size made me shorten the gif sorry xd) So, how did I do it? Well, I started out very basic. If you read my previous posts (which you might have to for a little context) I started out using the basic commands. I first wanted to make the turtle mine and move forward. That's not too hard. I can do that by writing this. turtle.dig() turtle.forward() Ad nauseam but..... that's kind of a lot of repeating the same thing over and over again. There had to be a different way to do it right? To find this out...

What am I working on?

Alright so now that I explained shortly explained what ComputerCraft is and what the turtle is that I use its time for me to explain one more thing before I can start talking about what I'm working on with them.  What I need to explain first is that besides the movement of the turtle they can also interact with the world. They can do that in the form you have seen in previous screenshots but also with tools. And the most important tool for me currently is the diamond pickaxe. A turtle holding a diamond pickaxe a.k.a. a mining turtle With a diamond pickaxe equipped turtles can do an action called  turtle.dig() A mining turtle mining That is what I've been using a lot for this project because this entire project started because I didn't want to do a lot of mining myself.  The project The project I've been referring to in all these posts is this.  I wanted a mining turtle to pinwheel branch mine and drop off items automatically.  This project had to be broken...

ComputerCraft. So, what is it?

Image
Like I described in my first post I said I was programming in Minecraft using a mod called ComputerCraft . And that statement is not completely correct.  What I am actually doing is coding outside of Minecraft and running this code in Minecraft of the turtles from ComputerCraft.  A basic turtle from ComputerCraft So what is ComputerCraft? Well TL;DR it's a mod that adds some items into Minecraft like computers, floppy disks and turtles. With these items anyone could write/use programs on them.  The proper explanation from the ComputerCraft wiki goes as follows: ComputerCraft is a mod created for Minecraft by dan200 that adds Computers, Monitors, Modems, Turtles and more! ComputerCraft's Computers and Turtles are programmed with the easy-to-learn Lua programming language. You can use Redsto...

What will I be posting here?

Hiya,  So this is my first post here and it seems like a good idea to explain what I will be blogging about here. On this post I will combining 2 things with are close to each other in the tech world but have yet to cross paths in my life. These 2 things will be coding and User Experience design.  I'm on 2 different levels with these things and will for this reason first start with what I am most experienced with which is UX design.  User Experience Design As of me writing this I am in the final stages of finishing my bachelor's degree for a study which basically teaches me UX design. For personal reasons I will keep the name to myself for now. Funny thing is I am exactly super close to finishing my bachelor's. So close in fact that I hope to be done in about 3,5 months from now.  Sadly I need to fix my thesis and that is why I will have my 2nd chance in 3,5 months. This also 'caused me to re-evaluate what I know about UX-design and what I supposedly learned here for...
